Party projects - Artist Canvas Painting

Craftastic is an arts and crafts company providing creative experiences for all ages, run by CBeebies ‘SMarteenies’ presenter Bizi Lizi.

This artist canvas painting party works really well with all the older age range and is particularly popular with children from the age of 9 and older.

After the initial ‘arriving’ activity, the format for this particular party is straight forward. For the first session, the children will be given a professionally stretched artist canvas. They will spend about 40 minutes or so designing their modern art picture (with guidance) and then painting the sections in bright contrasting colours. All paints used are non-toxic and water based. All paint will wash out of clothes but it is always advisable to wear old clothes!

When they have finished painting their canvas, the children will then go for their party food. While the children are eating, Lizi will clear away all the paints, dry the painted canvases then reset the table with the decorations. The decorations consist of a variety of stickers, accent beads, crackle glazes and other items to create exciting textures in their painting.

On the children’s return to the table, they will decorate their canvas’s (again with guidance) using the items provided and techniques introduced by Lizi. This takes approximately 40 minutes.

Party bags can be provided with this party although, please note the canvases are too big to fit in the bags.
