Party projects - Pencil Box Decorating
This pencil box decorating party works really well with all ages although it is particularly popular with children from the age of 8 and older. After the initial ‘arriving’ activity, the format for this particular party is straight forward. For the first session, the children will be given a wooden slide pencil box and a blank moulded wooden pen. They will spend about 30 minutes or so painting both their pencil box and the pen. All paints used are non-toxic and water based. All paint will wash out of clothes but it is always advisable to wear old clothes!
On the children’s return to the table, they will decorate the pencil boxes with the items provided. This takes approximately 20-25 minutes. Once they are happy with their finished boxes, they will then decorate the pen, adding wool hair and pipe cleaner arms and legs! Finally, during the last 15 minutes or so, the children will be provided with their plain paper party bag that they can decorate with crayons and the remaining stickers. At the end of the day the children will have a party bag filled with the items they have made during the party. |

When they have finished painting their box and pen, the children will then go for their party food. While the children are eating, Lizi will clear away all the paints, dry the painted boxes and pens then reset the table with the decorations. The decorations consist of a variety of stickers, foam shapes, sequins, pipe cleaner and wool.
