School Workshops - Pottery

Craftastic is an arts and crafts company providing creative experiences for all ages, run by CBeebies ‘SMarteenies’ presenter Bizi Lizi.

Craftastic provides arts and crafts experiences within the school environment. All activities are linked to the Art National Curriculum schemes of work and can be tailored to suit the particular school requirements.

This is a one off workshop that introduces an art experience rarely seen in primary schools.

Children of any age can make a pot on a potter’s wheel. There are various elements of the art, science, language and technology national Curriculum that can come from this activity. Lizi talks to the children about the changing shape and form of the clay as well as how the wheel works and how the pot is formed.

It is a one-to-one activity where children can take it in turns to have a go. Lizi can demonstrate in front of a group of children, a whole class or even the entire school. It usually takes 3 hours for an average class of 30 to each have a go.

At the end of the workshop, each child has their own pot to take home.

The above description is an outline of how the workshop could be run. All workshops are subject to detailed discussion with the class and head teacher to ensure the project will work within the school curriculum.

Craftastic can provide art activities for children from nursery and foundation stage to year 6. All activities are created with the particular children in mind. Craftastic aims to provide the highest quality of creative experience with the widest range of materials.
